This papyri ranks among the earliest surviving texts of Matthew (see also P77, POxy. 2683 + 4405)
Although on verso, only indecisive traces survive. The readings for verso suggested by the author of this papyrus are exceedingly tentative and this must be borne in mind when this papyrus is used for the purposes of textual criticism.
Textual Character
It concurs with UBS4/NA27 completely, with the exception that it does not include Matthew 21:44 (
B C L W Z also omit this verse). This makes it the earliest witness to the spurious nature of this interpolation.
Writing
The hand is 'early', i.e., before c. 250. It is very carefully written, with extensive use of serifs. Rough breathing is used in three instances.
