49 cm x 113 cm. Written in kufic script.

Contents

The translation of the inscription is:

  1. "Oh mankind, fear your Lord who created you and
  2. those who came before you if you wish to be successful." This was written by ʿAbd
  3. Allāh bin ʿAmmārah in the year 84.

Comments

The inscription contains eclectic blend of words and phrases taken from different verses of the Qur'an, viz., 4:1, 2:21 and 2:189. The order is shown below.
